WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN
Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.
The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.
It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

In the present age of marketing, advertisements often tend to cross limits in a race to elevate the sales or to get the limelight of media. Advertisements often use lies and exaggerations as their main tool for grasping the attention of the masses. But what line did advertisements cross in the past? The answer lies in these offensive, racist vintage adverts:
These stories usually come from Richard, but this one was from Corinna
This erection has church officials hot and bothered.
A spokesman for an Illinois Christian Science church that looks like a penis when viewed from above has come out of the woodwork to decry the building's newfound Internet fame.
"We didn’t design it to be seen from above," Scott Shepherd told SaukValley.com last week. Local architect John McLane, who did not design the church, told the site he believes it's "a little bit of a stretch" to claim that the aerial view of the structure looks like a penis. We'll let you decide for yourself:
The church, which is located in the town of Dixon (indeed), was designed by an architect who McLane guesses "probably" designed it that way by accident, according to SaukValley.com. Shepherd noted that the shape makes sense for the needs of the church because it allows for ample natural light as well as space for a sanctuary.
Two British teenagers had an unconventional Halloween costume last week: the burning Twin Towers.
Amber Langford and Annie Collinge, 19-year-old students at the University of Chester, dressed up as the Twin Towers for Halloween. The pair donned American flags on their heads and wore tower outfits that featured planes, explosions, smoke and people jumping to their deaths from the upper floors.
While the rabbit graphic is incredible on its own, Snow White's line just before the promo appears makes it even better:
"You're searching for something powerful enough to vanquish the queen."
Is ABC implying that Snow White is hiding that something in her pants?
According to a "Once Upon a Time" showrunner, alas, the whole thing was a mistake and not some new sort of subversive advertising. "I never thought I would have so many emails about Ginny's vagina," Edward Kitsis told EW.com. "It's embarrassing, but at the same time, it's so silly it's hard to take serious. It's so obvious that somebody didn't realize what they were doing." Read on...
Pelican Bay State Prison, where an inmate won back a werewolf erotica novel that prison guards had confiscated from him. (Robert Durell / Los Angeles Times / November 30, 1998)
By Benjamin Mueller
June 10, 2013, 11:41 a.m.
First they came for the Playboy magazines, and I said nothing, as I do not read Playboy magazine. Then they came for my werewolf erotica, and I could stay silent no longer. Can’t a locked-up interspecies romance fan read a little?
After two years of appeals, an inmate at Pelican Bay State Prison won back a werewolf erotica novel that prison guards had taken from him. The decision is a loss for prison censorship but a victory for all inmates with a soft spot for illicit love and interspecies intercourse.
When Andres Martinez ordered a copy of "The Silver Crown," a novel by Mathilde Madden about a werewolf hunter who falls in love with her prey, prison guards searched the book for sex scenes and, finding no shortage, confiscated it. Martinez is a convicted attempted murderer and an associate of the Mexican Mafia prison gang. Guards called the book obscene and likely to incite violence.
Now, in a 30-page decision alternately sterile and steamy, a San Francisco appeals court has ruled that Martinez has a right to the book. The court’s analysis is equal parts 1st Amendment commentary and dirty book report. (“The sex is sometimes rough but always consensual,” Justice James Richman wrote. “Women are portrayed as frequently aggressive, always willing, and seemingly insatiable. Men are portrayed as frequently demanding, always ready, and seemingly inexhaustible.”)
A PENSIONER was caught shampooing his privates on a bus after becoming irritated with his underpants.
Philip Milne, 74, was travelling from Bletchley to Bedford when he began to have some issues with his briefs and unzipped his trousers to 'use some shampoo to soothe his groin area' because he did not have his ointment to hand.
He was spotted by a mother and son who 'were chatting and heard there was something going on' and turned around to have a look, Bedford Magistrates' Court heard today (September 3).
Prosecuting Camille Gifford said: "In essence the defendant was masturbating while on the bus.
“He had his zip undone on his trousers and was rubbing his penis and his testicles."
Milne, of Water Eaton Road, Bletchley, had earlier been to the swimming pool when he was found applying the hair-care product on August 13.
Ms Gifford added: "He said he had some issues with some briefs he was wearing and he was using ointment to soothe the area.
"He says he became irritated but didn't have the ointment and instead used some shampoo to soothe his groin.
"The mother notified the bus driver who then notified the police and Milne was told to stay on the back of the bus.
Most of the stories which appear on this section of the bloggo come from Richard Freeman who is a self-appointed seeker after inappropriateness in all its forms.
However, this one comes from Max: "As these things happen, it's come to the planet's attention that a pair of Texas college students has been self-publishing a not-unsuccessful series of dinosaur-on-girl porno novellas on Amazon. Given that the Internet requires elaborate sex fantasies involving The Price Is Right and the Muppets to even maintain an erection, dino porn seems quasi-puritanical. But these books sport outright hilarious art, which juxtaposes a blase stock photo model with a confused CG dinosaur. Here are the 10 best covers." Read on..."
Crazy golfers can complete 'nein' holes with a difference - by playing on this course which includes a model of Adolf Hitler.
The exhibition crazy golf course features a large model of the Fuhrer, and players have to knock a ball into a tunnel and under the Nazi leader's belt.
The Hitler model even raises its arm in a Nazi salute and shouts 'nein nein nein' when the ball passes underneath.
The Hitler golf hole is part of a course which also features a mini statue of Saddam Hussein - which topples over when a ball drops into the hole.
The course was designed by a group of British artists, who describe the controversial design as 'crazy golf with a difference'.
It is thought the artists made the Hitler model themselves, which is currently on display at the Arnolfini art gallery in Bristol. Read on...
This story came via Richard Freeman (no surprise) but the following video comes from Mark Raines (bless his cotton socks)
Aparecido Castaldo, a retired stone cutter from Jundiai, Brazil has decided to marry his beloved Carmella, a goat. Because no Christian minister would agree to perform the marriage ceremony, the two will be wed by a known satanic leader, in the Church of the Devil.
People have married their pets in the past, although in most cases the marriage ceremony was just a symbolic one performed by family or friends. However, 74-year old Aparecido Castaldo, a widower and father-of-seven, apparently wanted to be united with his goat Carmela in a church, by an evangelical minister. Unfortunately, none of the churches he contacted with his unusual request wanted to perform the ceremony, so Aparecido eventually contacted Toninho do Diabo (Tom the Devil), an old friend who just happens to be one of the most famous satanists in Brazil. The wedding is scheduled to take place at midnight, on October 13, at the Devil’s Church, in Sao Paolo. ”Only our church accepted this love between man and animal because we have no prejudice,” Toninho said.

Aparecido fell in love with his pet goat two years ago, and apparently she has already been accepted as a “stepmother” by the man’s seven children, who will all be at the wedding.
The colouring book, featuring images taken from films such as Psycho, has been withdrawn from sale by Tesco (Picture: Raymonds Press Partnership)
We’ve heard of colour by numbers and join the dots books for children, but not ones where they have to colour in blood-spattered serial killers.
Colour Me Good Arrggghhhh! features line drawings of scenes from 18-rated films such as The Shining, Hellraiser, Silence of the Lambs and A Clockwork Orange, as well as from Psycho and A Nightmare On Elm Street.
The book was listed on the Tesco website as suitable for five to eight-year-olds despite containing ‘really scary stuff’ and ‘more blood than you can shake a dagger at’.
Chris Tuckwood, 56, Spondon, Derby, stumbled across the book while looking for a birthday present for his seven-year-old grandson, Reece.
The New Jersey man who is fighting to regain custody of his young children--one of whom he named Adolf Hitler Campbell--showed up today for a Family Court hearing wearing a full Nazi uniform and a Hitler mustache.
Heath Campbell, founder of the Hitler’s Order hate group, appeared this morning at a Flemington, New Jersey courthouse for a closed hearing on his request for visitation with his youngest child, a two-year-old boy.
Ever wonder what’s in those delicious dumplings? What gives them that special tang? The flavor [sic] that cannot quite be named? Wonder no further! For the secret has been revealed.
And the secret is…boneless pork rectums, finely diced. All the hush-hush is over because, through carelessness, these boxes were allowed to be photographed just before they were hustled into a restaurant in Taiwan. But now that their presence has been revealed to the world, the silence surrounding dumpling recipes can be broken.
Take a careful look at the labels. Not only are these rectums boneless—all the best ones are—but they are inverted! Culinary insiders have long known that it is only in the cheapest dumplings that one finds non-inverted rectums.
This is almost certainly because inverting a rectum is a tedious, labor-intensive process, requiring specialized skills and arcane knowledge available to only a few. We can only imagine that the apprenticeship leading to a mastery of inversion is long and grueling.
Once again it was Richard Freeman who found this. I sometimes think that he has set himself the task of keeping 'Inappropriate Corner' filled with the most bizarre and..ummm...inappropriate things on the Internet. Today it is the turn of the Adolf Hitler Toilet Roll. Sadly The Metro has already done the 'Turd Reich' jokes, so - as I abhor being seen as a plagiarist - I will have to refrain.
We received this news story yesterday, and didn't know whether we should laugh or cry at the gloriously inept piece of decision-making by educationalists who, for reasons known only to themselves, decided to mix up their mathematics and social studies programmes.
