WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

THE GONZO BLOG DOO DAH MAN HOPS AND SKIPS

The Gonzo Daily - Thursday

We are living in strange and disturbing times. Within the past few minutes I have received notifications of a plane crash in San Francisco, and military action between North and South Korea. As Jaki Windmill said to me at the Weird Weekend there is something wrong, and as I said to her, there is a bad moon rising. But all is not lost!

He has returned, I tell you! Rejoice!

Mr Biffo has returned, and we need him now, more then we ever did! Between 1993 and 2003 I read Biffo’s surreal nonsense on channel 4 Teletext everyday now, twelve years on, Digitiser is back at www.digitiser2000.com and the world is whole again.

All hail the Man with a Long Chin!

P.S Jessica thought Scranton K was hilarious, although she was not impressed with either Throbbing Gristle or Dr Jon the Night Tripper!

Gonzo Weekly #143
www.gonzoweekly.com

Billy Sherwood, Prog Rock History, Michael Raz, Free Festival, Roy Weard, Dogwatch, That Legendary Wooden Lion, Hawkwind, Jon Anderson, and Yes fans had better look out!

The latest issue of Gonzo Weekly (#143) is available to read at www.gonzoweekly.com, and to download at http://www.gonzoweekly.com/pdf/. It has Billy Sherwood on the front cover together with an interview with him the day after his first show as bass player of Yes inside. Jon muses about Princess Diana, Irish extremists and Weird Weekends whilst reviewing the hippest new comic. Doug reviews a book on the history of Prog Riock, John B-G talks about his memories of Free Festivals, Thom waxes all poetical like, whilst the legendary Roy Weard continues his regular column. And there is a radio show from M Destiny at Friday Night Progressive. There is also a collection of more news, reviews, views, interviews and water opossums with something to lose (OK, nothing to do with small marsupials planning to pray to St Anthony of Padyua for an intercession, but I got carried away with things that rhymed with OOOOS) than you can shake a stick at. And the best part is IT's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

This issue features:

Zombies, The Faces, Stevie Van Zandt, Darlene Love, Nile Rodgers, Galahad, Friday Night Progressive, Keith Richards, Don Kent, David Nobbs, Eddie Cusic, Stephen Lewis, The Boomtown Rats, Karnataka, Rick Wakeman, Billy Sherwood, John Brodie-Good, Roy Weard, Michael Raz, Ted Nugent, Frank Sinatra, Davey Jones, Carole King, Beatles, Louis and Bebe Barron, Neil Nixon, Hagbard
