On this day in 2006 Robert C. Baker died. Baker is well known as the inventor of the chicken nugget, chicken hotdog sausage and of turkey ham. Like Tim Berners-Lee did with the internet Baker gave his invention to the world to benefit mankind.

It could have been a scene enacted from Dante's 'Inferno' - even the clouds seemed to be wreathed in flames as torrent after torrent of plummeting German bombs screamed through the darkened skies over south London, and danced a fiery tarantella of death upon its shuddering streets, like a flurry of shrieking souls in everlasting torment. And in the midst of this panorama of pandemonium was Howard Leland - one of many volunteers with the ARP (Air Raid Precautions) who had been boldly defying the deadly rain of missiles throughout that fearful evening in October 1943 in a desperate bid to minimise its malevolent effects. Little did Leland realise, however, that he would soon encounter something infinitely more sinister, and malign, than anything conjured forth by the wartime enemy.Read on...
CFZ PEOPLE: David Braund-Phillips
Dave (pictured here with CFZ Life-President John Blashford-Snell and some fat hippy) was due to be released from hospital at tea time today, but the authorities changed their minds and said that he was not well enough to come home. I shall be going to see him tomorrow, by which time we hope that he will have had an unltrasound scan, and we will know a bit more about what is wrong with him..

My mother died ten years ago today. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her, but today in particular, please forgive me if I am a little melancholy.
