Hello all,

I was hoping to get some educated opinions about this mysterious object. The gentleman who sent these photos to me insists that it is a skull from an unidentified animal, and that he also is is possession of a few of its teeth. It appears to have small horns and is lacking eye sockets. In my opinion it resembles a vertebrae, although anatomy is definitely not my strong suit. He is seeking to have it scientifically analyzed. Any thoughts or opinions on the object would be most appreciated!

REDDERS REPORTS FROM BOGGY DEPOT

Just over a week ago, myself and good friend – and co-author with me on Monsters of Texas – Ken Gerhard headed north to Oklahoma, where we were booked to lecture at the first (of hopefully many) Boggy Depot Bigfoot Conference. The brainchild of a man named Mike Hall, the gig was designed to raise funds for two very worthwhile programs: the Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Children’s Miracle Network.

We arrived in the town of Atoka around 6.00 p.m., checked into our lodgings, and then made our way to the Boggy Depot State Park, where the audience was due to be treated to two cult-classic, horror/monster movies of the 1970s: The Legend of Boggy Creek and The Creature from Black Lake. As we pulled up in the park, with our vehicle’s speakers thumping out a fine dose of Rob Zombie, I could already see that the audience was beginning to build up, and the rain, which had been pummeling the area for hours, was starting to lessen.

BREAKING NEWS

Ken Gerhard will today take receipt of a blue dog carcass, road-killed somewhere near Fayetteville, TX. It will be stored in Naomi's long-suffering freezer. What happens then, we don't know. Watch this space!

RICHIE AND NAOMI WEST: CFZ EXPEDITION TO TEXAS

On March 4 Mr Jon Downes and his lovely wife Corinna will be flying to the States and arriving March 5. Naomi and I are excited about being able to host them while they are here in Texas. We are starting to build an itinerary for them to include at least one very exciting venture.

A woman in southeast Texas has discovered a small family of hairless canines (referred by the CFZ as the Texas Blue dog) living behind her back yard. She has been feeding them and wants the CFZ to film them.

Naomi and I will be going down to that location next week to install day/night video cameras to film these creatures in action.

When Jon and Corinna arrive, we will be going there to further investigate them. The word from the family who discovered these creatures is that they have very unusual habits not normally associated with canines. Jon and Corinna will be accompanied for part of their trip by a team from a London TV Company who are following the CFZ for 8 months for a feature documentary for BBC2 and will be including the blue dog research in their documentary. We are excited as this will be a big story in the Fortean world. This picture was taken of the creature by the woman in southeast Texas.

But Jon and Corinna's trip will not all be work. We have invited Nick Redfern and Ken Gerhard to a small welcoming party where a small few of Naomi's friends plan to make food and drink. Jon is planning to make a few appearances at local MUFON groups.

Jon and Corinna will be able to continue providing updates to the CFZ and their respective blogs from the States. They will have computer and email access.

NICK REDFERN: The Real Wolfman

Tonight, the History Channel broadcasts a 2-hour show called The Real Wolfman, which tells the strange, intriguing and notorious story of the Beast of Gevaudan.

The star of the show (the beast aside, of course!) is good friend - and Texas-based CFZ rep - Ken Gerhard, who sets off to France in an effort to try and resolve the puzzle.

Ken has told me a lot about the show over the last few months, and it sounds like it will be an excellent production.

TEXAS BLUE DOG WEBSITE COMING SOON

I am getting increasingly fond of Naomi and Richie West - two of our Texas reps. Indeed I am fond of all of our Texas reps because they also include Redders and Ken Gerhard (who won my heart when he told an interviewer that his idea of a "good time" was "stalking through the woods at night with my shotgun, dressed in leather and wearing eyeliner."

God, I love the CFZ.

But Naomi and Richie are particularly dear to me. As regular readers will know, Naomi is running the Texas Blue Dog project for the CFZ, and she writes:

"Devin has finally written up his very lengthy blue dog story and is ready for me to post it to the web site. The URL is http://www.texasbluedog.org/. Devin wants it available as the authorised version for researchers and wants Richie and me to be the point of contact for any info seekers. He has put an ungodly amount of work into it (I have my work cut out for me) and he has even more planned. He also has exclusive pics."

So - there you have it....


He is anxious to hear what's going to happen with the new creature. I'm no longer convinced it's not the same as his after all, but I can hardly tell what I'm looking at in a field where even the experts don't know. :)

The runaway success story with CFZ Press during the past few years has undoubtedly been Ken Gerhard's remarkably succesful book Big Bird. Here, in a multipart interview Ken discusses his cryptozoological research. As the blurb accompanying the interview says:
