As soe of you will know, my father was rushed into hospital today. His "collapsed lung" has turned out to be a severe case of pleural effusion of the right lung. Preliminary analysis suggests that this is as a result of a chest infection, but although there is no evidence of anything more sinister at this stage, doctors are not ruling out the possibility of a tumour.
Mark and I have been at the hospital all day, and will - no doubt - be there tomorrow. I will post updates as often as I can.

In November Sahar Dimus, our guide on four CFZ Sumatra expeditions, died of liver failure leaving a widow Lucy and four Children. On the 2nd November, Dezyama D. Sangma, wife of our friend and colleague Dipu Marak, our collaborator on the 2010 Indian expedition died, leaving her grieving husband and two small children.
