WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

CARL PORTMAN: Carl's challenge to Corinna (3)

Corinna,

A bird of prey you say?
Perhaps a kite?
Alright...
It’s not
But you have got,
Another photo and another guess
I know you’ll do your very best
You’ll get that badge
But we know not where or when
So until that time Corinna Downes
You’ll simply have to guess again

And you should know I have much faith in you
The photo after this will give an even better clue.

This is SUCH fun!

MANY THANKS TO KAREN GENSHEIMER

Karen Gensheimer is kind enough to be a regular benefactor of the CFZ. On Sunday she was sweet enough to give us a donation of $100, which is going straight into the CFZ Fighting Fund....

Thank you, my dear.

SIMON REAMES SENT THIS GIANT JELLYFISH VIDEO

While Graham and I were in Puerto Rico back in 1997, we received an email from an Exeter Schoolboy caled Simon, who had been following our exploits. He has been a friend of the CFZ (and mine in particular) ever since, and yesterday he sent us this giant jellyfish video, knowing that such things are grist to our mill..

BABY HEDGEHOG EATING A SAUSAGE

I get a gloriously disparate collection of photographs sent to me by various members of the CFZ family. These were sent by John and Dawn of the Haunted Skies Project and show a baby hedgehog showing a very unhoglike preference in foodstuffs. The photographs were taken at Exhall, Warwickshire, near a cricket club known locally as 'Titties Hill' (This is the real name not a joke). A joke Mr Hanson? Non Comprende Senor...
