WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

OHIO BIGFOOT CONFERENCE

CAMBRIDGE -- The Ohio Bigfoot Conference 2012 will be April 29 at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center in Cambridge.

The conference draws hundreds of people interested in the mystery of Bigfoot to hear from nationally known experts, share stories and ideas, see old friends and have a chance to buy books, casts and other related merchandise.

This year's featured guest will be Peter Byrne, an adventurer who has led multiple long-term expeditions in search of the Yeti and Bigfoot.

ANOTHER TRAILCAM `BIGFOOT` IMAGE...

This image was flashed across the Internet yesterday. Saskia, our intern, suggested that it looks like a wooden 'chainsaw' carving. Once she had pointed that out we agreed with her...

I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST CFZ DOGS THAT DID THINGS LIKE THIS...

CFZ CANADA: Sasquatch –from the bottom up part 1; Big Feet

I’m still pretty green at this crypto stuff—I’ve only been part-time studying for about 6 years. My “real job” is researching hauntings phenomena, and cryptozoology is sort of aside. I’ve decided to share my learning journey here on this blog, beginning with Sasquatch.

OLL LEWIS: Yesterday's News Today

I had vague recollections of Harris singing this to open the Sydney Olympics but I can’t find a clip of that anywhere so maybe it’s just a false memory - talk about missed opportunity:

LINK: Urban Monsters

If you want to catch a cryptid doing its thing in America, common sense would deem you drive far out into the woods where humankind rarely ventures. After all, it's typically hunters and hikers who wind up having awkward run-ins with Bigfoot or the Flatwoods monster.

But city dwellers who want a taste of the supernatural ought not to despair. A deep riffling through the musty archives of American folklore reveal several beasties who have given up their woodsy pad for the fast-paced life of the big city. See what monsters could be dealing with condo fees and long lines at Starbucks in the gallery....
