WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

I'M THE GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN

It is sunday again (don't you know it?)
when I pretend to be a poet
and take up my self-imposed gauntlets
doing Gonzo Daily in rhyming couplets
and if anyone might ask me why,
I say "dunno, but I have to try"
and if you think I'm just some freak
gimme a break its only once a week...

And so we start Gonzo Today,
with an Ant-Bee story (Hip Hooray)
its difficult here not to list the names
of the folk who collaborate with Billy James
there's different ones on every song
from The Magic Band, Focus or Gong,
and here it should be understood
his new CD is bloody good!
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/httpwww_08.html

And here for you to read and see
a review of Troy Donockley,
you should know him, well I mean cripes
he can't half play those Celtic pipes,
his piping gives his music wings
he's a virtuoso on these things
and lots of artists count their blessings,
and want to have him on their sessions
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/httpwww.html

Now who is next, I wonder can you guess
He used to play keyboards with Yes,
and now I'm led to understand
he's the BBCs grumpy old man
but he orchestrates a merry dance
with his brand of prog par excellence
here's something that was sent to me
a review of his new Live CD
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/link-german-review-of-rick-wakemans-new.html

And now its time to take a gander
at this review of Erik Norlander
another keyboard maestro gent.
on his DVDs your money's well spent,
he has two deluxe packages out
and both of them are worth a shout
so forgive me making such a fuss
but both have been released by us
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/link-fanfare-for-erik-norlander.html

Now who is this ageing hippy
in this stupid picture (oops its me)
but traditionally I make the most
of stuff which arrives in my post
And you wouldn't get such a thrill
from an overdue water rates bill
as you do when you're picturing me
waving a Beefheart DVD
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/my-postbag-beefheart-and-shellshock.html

And now something from me to you
a Michael Des Barres interview
and here I think I should repeat
that his new CD Carnaby Street
will be released on Tuesday 10th,
its not out now, so quench your sorrow
its only the dat after tomorrow
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/07/link-michael-des-barres-silverhead.html

There are few artists in the Music Biz
who are as good as my friend Liz
(and by the way, 'Indian Summer'
her new album is a real stunner)
but today's story (never mind)
she's leaving the Auburn band behind
but not for good (that would be dire)
she's doing Latitude festival with the choir
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/just-in-stolen-from-auburn-facebook.html

And so I've finished once again
but I'll be back on sunday when
I'll bring you all the Gonzo news
filtered through my poetic muse
