KITHRA ON THE WOODWOSE AND THE GREEN MAN
The Woodwose, sometimes called the Wild Man, is very similar to the Green Man. Both appear in ancient mythology and have their origins in ancient paganism. And since they became subsumed into Christianity in mediaeval times, both can often be found as decoration in Churches.Whilst the Green Man, a pre-Christian fertility symbol, is usually depicted with the face half-covered in leaves and vines emanating from the mouth, the Woodwose is usually shown as a complete part-human figure carrying a club, with the limbs being leafy. It also often shows a thick beard and wears a cap. The Woodwose may also be shown holding the club in different positions. Sometimes this is on its side and sometimes it is raised. There is a theory that a raised club depicts the figure before it was converted to Christianity, but it’s probably more correct to believe that it was raised to ward off evil spirits.

KITHRA GOES BLOOP. WOW!
Over on her blog, Kithra writes:
After days of struggle, and very bad weather that meant the thunderstorms and heavy rain kept me off the computer, I have now completed the first of the new articles that I intended to add to my website. This one is called The "Bloop" and "Wow!" Signals; about two very different, and very intriguing, signals that were received by scientists over the years. The “Bloop” falls into the Fortean category, while the “WOW!” was found by the SETI project seeking alien life. You can read it clicking here.

KITHRA DISCUSSES THE TORBAY MONSTER
http://kithraskrystalkave.blogspot.com/2010/08/sea-monster-seen-off-paignton-devon.html
Over on her blog, Kithra discusses the Torbay sea monster with the calm good sense that she is known for. She also says very nice things about me, and I hope that I have not come over as just a middle-aged, bad-tempered and opinionated man. I mean, I am just a bad-tempered and opinionated middle-aged man, but we wouldn't want all the world to know that, would we?

KITHRA'S CORVIDS
According to the RSPB both magpies and jackdaws are members of the Corvidae family of birds. Well, I’m not scientifically minded so that’s not really important to me. And I do know what type of bird is being talked of when the word 'corvid' is mentioned. But that’s all somewhat beside the point.
When I first knew that I was moving home I knew that I would miss the pair of magpies that I had been able to watch flying around the garden during the years that I lived in my old home. There were very few things that I was going to miss but those birds were one of them. So imagine my delight when I arrived here to see not two, but three, magpies in the garden. They are joined occasionally by a couple of jackdaws, another bird that I’d seen at my previous address. The garden here is surrounded by mature trees, although I don’t know what species they are, and it also has a bird table where smaller birds appreciate the food put out for them. At night we even have the odd urban fox foraging around the property; along with most of the neighbourhood cats.

CFZ PEOPLE: Kithra
http://kithraskrystalkave.blogspot.com/2010/06/im-back.html
Kithra is back online. I for one have missed her. However, the strains of her move have made her somewhat unwell and as she writes: "To those of you who have emailed me, I'll reply when I really am feeling better."
You can't say fairer than that!

KITHRA LOOKS AT NICK'S LATEST
Over on her blog, Kithra takes a look at the latest offering from our very own Nick Redfern, Pelsall's Mr Entertainment:
'After many problems with the US post office the copy of Nick Redfern’s book “Contactees: A History of Alien-Human Interaction,” that he so very kindly sent me, finally arrived; and I’ve just finished reading it. I have no expertise in doing a book review so these are just my thoughts; the things that occurred to me as I was reading. I began by sending Nick my thoughts and he suggested that I do a Blog Post, so here it is. Those familiar with the articles on my website will know that I like to take a rather unconventional angle on things.'

KITHRA WITH ALL BIGFOOTS GREAT AND SMALL
KITHRA WRITES: While reading one of Nick Redfern’s many blogs I see that he’s about to review a new book entitled: “Solomon Islands Mysteries” by Marius Boirayon. In his very short post Nick mentions that the book contains information about Bigfoot-type creatures.
I have to admit, that even with my own long-held interest in what many would simply term Bigfoot this was a completely new idea to meREAD ON...
