WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

I'M YER GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN

It is sunday so I like to rhyme
in fact I do it all the time
in fact cos I am a sad geek
I write bad poetry once a week
On sundays 'till we've had enough
I always do the gonzo stuff
in putrid rhymes that nearly scan
"Why?" you ask. Because I can
In the summer of 1969,
when the weather it was always fine
my family all came to stay
on Dartmoor for a holiday
A fond memory of being there
is my father singing 'Widecombe Fair'
and although they got it all wrong
Renaissance Mk2 covered the song
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/11/renaissance-all-along-down-along-out.html
Last night as part of my grand plan,
my family watched 'Electric Man',
it appealed to Richard and to me,
and to Mother who is 83
and so I post the trailer stuff,
I can't recommend this film enough,
there's an American chick who is quite a dish
and Marillion's ex-singer, Fish
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-electric-man-sparks-will-fly-film.html
We go off topic for a bit now,
(I hope the boss won't have a cow,
or get really badly annoyed)
but there's some news about Pink Floyd
and so I will report the facts
about deluxe memorabilia packs
which come as a pretty nice surprise
many thanks to the Neptune PF guys
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/11/just-in-from-those-jolly-nice-people-at.html
The other night Graham and I
went to Southampton by and by
to do something both cool and hip
we filmed the Jefferson Starship
and also filmed the support band
(Liz Lenten's Auburn, who were grand)
but it has taken weeks you know
to release one song on video
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/11/jefferson-starship-somebody-to-love.html
And now we go to Austin City,
where the gurls are oh so pretty
in order to meet Texas Thom
who writes better poems than Jon
we post them up here every day
(you know what I mean, wayhay!)
Today's one posted just for you
is called 'A Dream to Get You Through'
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/11/thom-world-poet-daily-poem_4.html
I thought you would be pleased to tell
how Pru is doing very well
and Gonzo Daily would like to say
it's Prudence's 7th birthday
But what's the relevance to all of you?
Well, Hunter Ayling adores Pru,
and the Gonzo Daily is the sort of blog
which says Happy Birthday to the dog
http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/11/gonzo-people-prudence.html
And so that's it from this old freak
there'll be poems once again, next week

The Gonzo Daily is a two way process. If you have any news or want to write for us, please contact me at jon@eclipse.co.uk. If you are an artist and want to showcase your work, or even just say hello please write to me at gonzo@cfz.org.uk. Please copy, paste and spread the word about this magazine as widely as possible. We need people to read us in order to grow, and as soon as it is viable we shall be invading more traditional magaziney areas. Join in the fun, spread the word, and maybe if we all chant loud enough we CAN stop it raining. See you tomorrow...

The Gonzo Daily is - as the name implies - a daily online magazine (mostly) about artists connected to the Gonzo Multimedia group of companies. But it also has other stuff as and when the editor feels like it. The Editor is an old hippy of 53 who - together with his orange cat - puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the orange cat?
