On this
day in 1938 Orson Welles, best known these days for his role as the narrator in
the 1980s animated transformers film, broadcast his radio play of H.G. Wells'
War of the Worlds. The play told the story of alien invasion through a series of
faux news bulletins and this fooled many American's who had missed the start
into thinking the Earth really was being invaded.
And now
the news:
The
play in full, epic even today:

In November Sahar Dimus, our guide on four CFZ Sumatra expeditions, died of liver failure leaving a widow Lucy and four Children. On the 2nd November, Dezyama D. Sangma, wife of our friend and colleague Dipu Marak, our collaborator on the 2010 Indian expedition died, leaving her grieving husband and two small children.
