WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

I'M YER GONZO BLOG DOO DAH MAN

And so once again friday is upon us, and it is the end of the working week for most people. For me? No-one has ever called me normal, so I am listening to the rather wonderful new 'Beach Boys' album, and trying to work out how best to work out a balanced diet for my new baby caecilians. In betweenst all that I have new and also rather wonderful postings for you all:

Merrell Fankhauser is one of the Gonzo artists with the most interesting career paths. He started off as a surf guitarist in the late fifties and then became a far out UFO believing tripmeister. Personally I like both sides of the man. Here is an interview with some smashing archive pics that you won't have seen before...http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/06/link-merrell-fankhauser-interview-with.html

As regular readers will no doubt be aware, I am really rather fond of The Mad Marquis! Michael Des Barres is a sizeable talent who has never quite got the acclaim that I feel that he deserves. But then he hasn't had
me on his team before, so watch this space..http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/06/link-return-of-glam-rock-icon-michael.html

Jon Anderson is an extraordinary artist, as his recent solo rennaisance shows. We are all very much looking forward to his next album which is - or so the rumous tell us - a sequel to his classic 'Olias of
Sunhillow'. He is currently on tour Stateside, and here is a eulogistic review..http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/06/link-wonderous-songs-wonderous-stories.html

Good Old Merrell Fankhauser; still at it. Some people get him, others don't, but both this reviewer and
yours truly are in the former category (after all I nearly got arrested whilst filming his new video the
other day)...http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/06/link-merrell-fankhauser-review_21.html

A real exclusive here - part two of the chat that I had the other afternoon with the lovely Helen
McCookerybook. She really is an extraordinary lady. Go out and buy her records now or you will have me to deal with...http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/06/exclusive-helen-mccookerybook-interview_21.html

Yesterday the Gonzo Daily passed a real milestone - we had our 20,000th visitor. Thank you everyone for your support... (BTW we had nearly 1,000 hits yesterday alone)http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/06/we-have-done-jolly-well.html

See you tomorrow...
