Just last week, I received an intriguing story from a family living on the fringes of White Rock Lake, Dallas, Texas (where, coincidentally, me and my wife, Dana, lived from 2004 to 2008), who claimed to have seen a four-to-five-foot-long alligator briefly basking on the shore of the lake in the latter part of June of this year.

In November Sahar Dimus, our guide on four CFZ Sumatra expeditions, died of liver failure leaving a widow Lucy and four Children. On the 2nd November, Dezyama D. Sangma, wife of our friend and colleague Dipu Marak, our collaborator on the 2010 Indian expedition died, leaving her grieving husband and two small children.
