GERALD SMITH WROTE: I've never even seen a grasshopper this size (3.5-4cm) , let alone snapped one in the wild.. Emma, one of Simon's tribe, spotted it at Powler's piece a couple of weeks ago. I asked how she found it and she said, "I heard it," She has very acute hearing.I'me interested to see that it's head seems to be encased in a transparent 'helmet'. Is it in process of emerging from a chrysalis or something. I know zilch about grasshoppers.

In November Sahar Dimus, our guide on four CFZ Sumatra expeditions, died of liver failure leaving a widow Lucy and four Children. On the 2nd November, Dezyama D. Sangma, wife of our friend and colleague Dipu Marak, our collaborator on the 2010 Indian expedition died, leaving her grieving husband and two small children.
