As is my wont I got up late

but not in some hungover state

but it was warm and cozy in that area

beneath the duvet with my terrier

so Archie and I slept 'til gone three

just my Jack Russell dog and me

but at ten past three that naughty pup

started to growl when I got up,

cos although I had to do the blogs

he said that cold wet winters are not for dogs

What has Corinna's column of Fortean bird news got to do with cryptozoology? 

Well, everything, actually! 

In an article for the first edition of Cryptozoology Bernard Heuvelmans wrote that cryptozoology is the study of 'unexpected animals' and following on from that perfectly reasonable assertion, it seems to us that whereas the study of out-of-place birds may not have the glamour of the hunt for bigfoot or lake monsters, it is still a perfectly valid area for the Fortean zoologist to be interested in.

I have some dictating scheduled for today, so rather than stay in bed untilm Corinna came back in, I got up early and settled myself in my chair in the sitting room, and Archie hopped on my lap, and we both fell asleep........for about five minutes. The local council (in their infinite wisdom) took it upon themselves to park in the street, and do something arcane to the drains using a noisy piece of equipment that made the dogs bark solidly forthe next hour. hen it was all over I fell asleep for good and then overslept.

 

Bah!

 

However, the new OTT is out and we think it is rather good.

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an old hippy of 58 who - together with a Jack Russell called Archie, an infantile orange cat named after a song by Frank Zappa, and two half grown kittens, one totally coincidentally named after one of the Manson Family, purely because she squeaks, puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention Archie and the Cats?
