Yesterday was a very strange day. I try to do nothing on weekends, with the notable exemption of the Sunday blogs. However, things don't always work out like that, and yesterday I found myself doing a recording session with Mike Davis, in the middle of which we took delivery of a cold and hungry baby collared dove. These are, in fact, a species of mild cryptozoological importance. Until the early years of the 20th Century they where a central and southern Asian species, but they began expanding their range westward, reaching Germany by the 1940’s and the U.K. By 1956. They first bred here 2 years later, and I still remember my grandmother, who was a keen bird watcher, being very exited in the early 1960’s when they first nested in her garden in Hampshire!

 

The little fellow had survived the night and is eating, and so it is nice to be able to hope that we will be able to rear it and release it back into the wild.

 

On top of that, I did a Bigfoot radio show, and several other bits and bobs which one really does not expect on one’s day off.

 

Such is life!

He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention Archie and the Cats?
