CRYPTOLINK: Zeke the “Equine Bigfoot” is home at last in Tennessee
A word about cryptolinks: we are not responsible for the content of cryptolinks, which are merely links to outside articles that we think are interesting (sometimes for the wrong reasons), usually posted up without any comment whatsoever from me.

For months he was the equine equivalent of Bigfoot, seen only fleetingly as he moved through the southeastern Tennessee countryside.
But now, Zeke, the two-year-old zebra who escaped from his home five months ago, is back with his owner.
Late last year, Zeke escaped his enclosure by jumping a fence while work was going on at the property of his owner, Ronald Price.
Zeke took a liking to his new-found freedom, enjoying the country feel that Bradley County had to offer.
Dozens of sightings came in, but Price was unable to recapture Zeke, despite his best efforts.
“We know where he’s at, we just can’t catch him,” he told local media early on during the search.
As the months rolled on, Zeke was seemingly content to hang out in wooded areas of the county.
Price remained upbeat, saying Zeke was out enjoying life.

TODAY'S BIG CAT NEWS
There are so many of them now that we feel that they should be archived by us in some way, so we are publishing a regular round-up of the stories as they come in.
The worldwide mystery cat phenomenon (or group of phenomena, if we are to be more accurate) is not JUST about cryptozoology. At its most basic level it is about the relationship between our species and various species of larger cat. That is why sometimes you will read stories here that appear to have nothing to do with cryptozoology but have everything to do with human/big cat interaction. As committed Forteans, we believe that until we understand the nature of these interactions, we have no hope of understanding the truth that we are seeking.
THE GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN MANS THE BARRICADES
The Gonzo Daily - Monday
This week's issue of Gonzo Weekly is here. Hooray!!! It has some unpublished Pink Fairies stuff from over 20 years ago, an encounter between Keith Levene (ex The Clash and PiL) and Graham Inglis (who lives in my spare room) a new Auburn video and a report on The Musical Box plus Acid Mothers Temple, Space 1999, Hawkwind, Eric Burdon, and more news, reviews, views, interviews and and long nosed potoroos (OK, no rabbit sized macropoda, but I got carried away with things that rhymed with OOOOS) than you can shake a stick at. And the best part is IT's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!
* The Gonzo Daily is a two way process. If you have any news or want to write for us, please contact me at jon@eclipse.co.uk. If you are an artist and want to showcase your work, or even just say hello please write to me at gonzo@cfz.org.uk. Please copy, paste and spread the word about this magazine as widely as possible. We need people to read us in order to grow, and as soon as it is viable we shall be invading more traditional magaziney areas. Join in the fun, spread the word, and maybe if we all chant loud enough we CAN stop it raining. See you tomorrow...
* The Gonzo Daily is - as the name implies - a daily online magazine (mostly) about artists connected to the Gonzo Multimedia group of companies. This looks like it is going to be a massively
complicated week. I have people here nearly every day plus recordings to be
done, books to be published and deathless prose to be banged out. My hopes of
becoming a curmudgeonly old hermit are receding rapidly (or at least the hermit
bit). On top of all that, for various reasons, this weekend we are massively
changing the format of Gonzo Weekly, so there are bound to be complications on
that score. Thank God that I have my ever expanding band of little elves who
assist me through my peculiar life (or my 'Robot Army of the Undead' as I think
of them in my more megalomaniac moments. I would also like to reassure people
that I have not forgotten about the 2014 CFZ Yearbook. It will be here
eventually I promise. And I always keep my promises in the end.

FORTEAN BIRD NEWS FROM THE WATCHER OF THE SKIES
What has Corinna's column of fortean bird news got to do with Cryptozoology?
Well, everything actually!
In an article for the first edition of Cryptozoology Bernard Heuvelmans wrote that cryptozoology is the study of 'unexpected animals' and following on from that perfectly reasonable assertion, it seems to us that whereas the study of out-of-place birds may not have the glamour of the hunt for bigfoot or lake monsters, it is still a perfectly valid area for the Fortean zoologist to be interested in.

Where does folklore end and reality begin? What is the overlap between these two planes of "existence"? This was a question obliquely asked in a recent article by “Dr. Beachcombing” when he reviewed my book “The Water Horses of Loch Ness”. You may wish to read his article first before proceeding here.
The Doctor (as I will call him) holds the article in tension between two schools of thought. On the one extreme, there is my view that these old tales had a biological basis in truth. That is, An Niseag (the old Gaelic for Nessie pronounced "An Nee-Shack"), was a real creature hidden under the various layers of folkloric accretions. But in opposition, was the dismissive view of Daniel Loxton, co-author of “Abominable Science”, who viewed all folklore as irrelevant to the question of what is the Loch Ness Monster. I reviewed that book from a Nessie perspective back in September.
He ultimately is sceptical of any real creature beneath the folkloric or real waves and sides with Loxton in that respect. However, he sides with this author in regards to Loch Ness folklore and opposes "Abominable Science". There was a tradition of a beast in Loch Ness which people believed to be true.
