WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

A GOODBYE TO ALAN AND JENNIE

Regular attendees at the Weird Weekend will be sad to hear that Alan and Jennie Lindsay, the landlord and landlady of The Farmers Arms, where the Weird Weekend dinner has been held for the past five years, have left the village. They now own Robin's Nest at Bideford Football Club, whereas the village pub has been taken over by Dave and Eve. Good luck to all of you!

Early indications are that our jolly good relationship with the pub will continue as far as the WW is concerned, as will our practise of boarding our fishtanks there.

PARANORMAL REQUEST

Guys,

If anyone has a copy of Paranormal magazine with the article about the Weird Weekend, or indeed the big spread that appeared about it in the North Devon Journal, can they please send me a scan....

RICHARD FREEMAN: White yeti query..

Dale, could you give me some details please? I have never come across a single report of a white yeti (I have just completed a hefty list for the History Channel of all the yeti sightings that I could find, and all describe a dark-furred animal). The sasquatch and the almasty are the only ones I can recall that have occasionally been reported as sporting white fur.

Please help with identifying a bug in my house. I recently found them flying

OLL LEWIS: Yesterday's News Today

On this day in 1969 Trey Parker was born. Parker is one of the writers and co-creators of South Park, which regularly features fortean themes, including alien abduction, cattle mutilation, miracles, ghosts, zooform phenomina (manbearpig), spirit possession and cryptids (Nessie).

This is quite an interesting American made propaganda film made during the cold war about the dangers of 'ism' it's actually kind of cute for a propaganda movie:

JON ISN'T WELL, HE STAYED BACK AT THE HOTEL...

Just a head's up to anyone who is trying to get in touch with me at the moment. The last few months of stress and general unpleasantness have been too much for me and I am having another bout of my illness. I will be at Uncon this coming weekend but I shall be taking it relatively easy if I can. Yesterday I had to pull the plug on a project that was actually quite dear to me, purely because of the amount of stress it was causing, and I don't want to lose any others, so forgive me if I keep a low profile for a bit. (From previous experience, the `bit` may be as short as a couple of days, or it may be longer - time will tell).
