The Gonzo Daily - Thursday
My friend Andrea who is well on her way to being a qualified astrologer,
says that 2016 is a year when all sorts of systems are breaking down, and giving
people a chance to rebuild from the bottom up. I am not sure how much I believe
in astrology, which to paraphrase February Callender (who, by the way is not an
entirely fictional character because my old dog bit her alter ego once many
years ago) in Friday’s Tunnel probably means that I don’t believe in it much at
all, but on this occasion I believe that she is spot on.
Looking around, even on the world stage, everything is collapsing around
us. For years I have been sighing and noting that we “live in strange and
disturbing times”, and they have been getting worse. Soon, I hope that they will
reach a nadir, and that Andrea is right, and it is time that people will start
rebuilding their systems and structures in order to be appropriate for this
brave new world in which we are all living.
All a bit metaphysical? I should coco, but it is only Thursday lunchtime,
and the great and good of Cryptozoology will descend on my garden for drinks in
a few short hours. Why? Cos it is the seventeenth Weird Weekend...

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an
old hippy of 56 who - together with an infantile orange cat named after a song
by Frank Zappa, and two small kittens, one totally coincidentally named after
one of the Manson Family, purely because she squeaks, puts it all together from
a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he
shares with various fish. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his
bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of
social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the infantile orange cat, and the
adventurous kittens?
What has Corinna's column of Fortean bird news got to do with cryptozoology?
