As we know, yesterday's `Yesterday’s News Today` was never posted, so here is what would have been posted yesterday, today:
On this
day in 1928 the first Mickey Mouse cartoon Plane Crazy was released.
Unfortunately, as it failed to find a distributor, it was only seen by a few
people. That changed when Walt Disney wowed audiences by showing them his
Steamboat Willy, the first cartoon that had sound synchronised to the action on
screen. After this Plane Crazy was given a similar soundtrack by Ub Iwerks and
Disney then re-released it and it became a great success.
In
the USA copyright laws mysteriously change every few years to always include
Steamboat Willie and therefore theoretically Disney's ownership of Mickey
Mouse... Iwerks' and Disney's earlier creation Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is
technically public domain though:
But now for today's 'Yesterday's News Today'. It is a double issue because yesterday's 'Yesterday's News Today' posts are now being posted in today's 'Yesterday's News Today', alongside the posts that had originally been scheduled for today's 'Yesterday's News Today'. Confused? Join the club.
On this
day in 1928 paranormal investigator Peter Underwood was born. Underwood is most
famous for his investigations into the Borley Rectory Hauntings (dubbed the most
haunted house in Britain by the press).
