Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.
The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.
Unlike some of our competitors we are not going to try and blackmail you into donating by saying that we won't continue if you don't. Photos were sent to the Department of Conservation and Kelly Tarlton's aquarium. "It has proven difficult to get any confirmation" according to Luana Lovell-Dewes (one of the quad bikers who found the carcass) but then Anton van Helden, an expert on marine mammals (my search revealed that he is most probably the Collection Manager of Marine Mammals at Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa), identified the "whatsit" using the fin which points to an killer whale. The teeth of an Orca (Orcinus orca) and an false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens) are very similiar without further analysis so maybe this was the reason why the fin shape was used for further identification. This is some kind of toothed whale like a killer whale or a piolet whale. Its not a beaked whale.
Yes. Appologize me, but what's your point? Do you wanted to reaffirm it again? Or has anyone claimed the contrary and I overlooked it? Neither anyone in the article nor I have claimed that its a beaked whale.
