Recruiting Now for 2011: Fauna Forever needs you to join its teams of researchers, ecologists and conservationists in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru! You can choose your team: insect, herpetofauna, mammal or bird team, or mix it up
The Madre de Dios region in Peru holds an area of the Amazon Rainforest with incomparable biological diversity. Paradoxically, it is also an epicenter of destructive illegal gold mining, rapidly widening deforestation along the newly paved Trans-Amazonica highway, oil & gas exploration, as well as hunting & illegal logging. Join us in the midst of this dynamic part of the world to experience these effects first-hand & be a part of the huge achievements being made every day by leading conservation organizations working together to discover and protect the exceptional diversity and unforgettable beauty of this part of the rainforest.
Since 1997 Fauna Forever's flagship project, Fauna Forever Tambopata (FFT), & its experienced team have trained over 200 volunteers in wildlife monitoring techniques such as mist-netting, unbounded line transects, quadrat surveys, remote camera trapping, species identification, footprint traps & much more; leading towards a better understanding of the natural dynamics of wildlife populations & the impacts they encounter through human activities. While being guaranteed to have many close encounters with a huge variety of Amazonian species & working alongside scientists at the forefront of research & conservation work in Peru, participation on the FFT project will significantly enhance your abilities to (i) undertake field research in a tropical environment, (ii) identify Amazon rainforest species, (iii) understand the biodiversity conservation challenges affecting the Peruvian Amazon today, & (iv) appreciate what it really takes to do quality research in a humid tropical lowl!
and rainforest ecosystem.
Choose your team: Choose to work on the insect, herpetofauna, mammal or bird team, or mix it up
