Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.
The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

O.K. Jon was just doing the trance dance of the Ninki Nanka. CFZ goes to Gambia and discovers that this deadly spirit dragon creature starts out as a large python, swims out to the ocean, and then turns into a dragon. But, as the CFZ doc notes, the male circumcision training in Gambia is a month long of not washing which ends with a trance song about the dragon!!
Jon says in the CFZ doc he would LOVE to find out what this means because the same story of a python transforming into a dragon is also found in Sumatra -- Downes says what does it mean??!!
My article "the Biomusic Conspiracy" gives the secret of the Ninki Nanka male initiation trance dance.

This story of the python turning into the dragon is the well documented rainbow snake initiation (also found in Melanesia, Australia and the Amazon)!! The trance dance training originates in the Bushmen Khoisan culture going back to 100,000 BCE -- where the oldest snake statue is from -- worshiped in a cave back around 70,000 BCE.
It's the kundalini energy training to open the third eye. Jon was just doing the trance dance of the Ninki Nanka.
