WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

DALE DRINNON: Predicted news item

Originally posted at the Frontiers of Zoology group, March 31, 2010.

I thought I'd re-post this because there has been a very selective amnesia about who was actively backing Offshore drilling back before the disastrous oilspill in the Gulf of Mexico. The blame falls directly upon one Barack Obama, remember him? He is the man that reprehensibly flushed billions of dollars down the toilet as his first piece of business. Thereby effectively selling the children and grandchildren of present-day Americans into perpetual slavery to the debt which he has created. And not only was this incredibly reprehensible act not criticized, but the man is applauded and even imitated in other nations for doing so.

Americans need to adjust the rate at which they are using up the world's resources, across the board and drastically. And the last thing we need to worry about doing at this point is Saving the Rich.

Obama clears way for oil drilling off US coasts
By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer Philip Elliott, Associated Press Writer 54 mins ago
WASHINGTON Reversing a ban on oil drilling off most U.S. shores, President Barack Obama on Wednesday announced an expansive new policy that would put oil and natural gas platforms in waters along the southern Atlantic coastline, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and part of Alaska [emph. added]. Speaking at Andrews air base outside Washington, Obama said, "This is not a decision that I've made lightly." He addressed the expected outcry from disappointed environmentalists by saying he had studied the issue for more than a year and concluded it was the right call given the nation's voracious thirst for energy and the need to produce jobs and keep American businesses competitive.

PREDICTED FUTURE FOLLOWUP NEWS ITEM:

Obama Approves Re-Introduction of Institutionalized Whaling
Washington (UPI)
In a move sure to further anger Conservationists and alienate the party he pretends to represent, President Barack Obama Announced the revival of harvesting whale-oil by professional whalers. "It's them or us, and I know where we all stand on that!" said Obama from the Oval Office. "Whales, porpoises, dolphins, seals, fuel oil; it's all the same to me" "We've got a historical precident for sucking the resources of this planet dry so it's going to be suck, suck, suck, until we can't suck any more out of the tired old world"

In a later program, Obama began questioning members of Congress about the economic feasibilty of instituting cannibalism, to feed the upper class. "There's a lot of edible protein on your average lower-class ten-year-old and it's all going to waste" he is reported to have said to a fellow Democrat.

Slight erratum note (not intended to reflect badly on Jon, whom I thank for putting the blog up for me):

There was a slight change from the version which I sent to Jon and the end result here: I had put the part about Obama backing drilling in the Gulf of Mexico in boldface and Jon put all of the lettering in the original news story to the same typeface. I was of course making it obvious that Obama had endorsed more offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico BEFORE the big oil spill. making all of the prining in the same face also makes my added "[Emph added]" meaningless.

After the oil spill of course the Obama white house made a statement that they had their "Boot on the throat" of the ones responsible for the oil spill. I noted at the time that it must be a very difficult trick for Obama to put his own boot on his own throat (Fascist sort of a metaphor anyway, Don't you think?)

An additional comment made in reply to my message in a different group (down the string a few entries):
"I wouldn't worry about some flaky Mayan calendar prophecy. I'd worry about the $13 trillion national debt, already 90 percent of GDP and growing by $1.5 trillion a year, thanks to the ravenous American welfare-warfare state. It won't be long before the U.S., no longer able to service the debt, enters sovereign default, the dollar collapses, and the division of labor, on which we all depend for our very sustenance, grinds to a halt."
