WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

NEIL ARNOLD WRITES: Who let the dogman out?

Hi guys,

I recorded Richard a Dogman docu a while back and came across this new link of the footage via Nick Redfern. Any ideas? It's quite creepy and the original footage I sent Rich has been cleaned up a lot here. I think it's a hoax simply because the way it's filmed, especially with the ending. Also, check out the photo on the link of the 'Bigfoot' said to be holding a small dog.

RICHARD FREEMAN WRITES: The photos look like a costume but the film looks real. At first I thought it might be a black bear, but the animal seems to have ears that are too long and floppy. It might be a big dog like a Newfoundland, or a Newfoundland crossed with a rottweiler. The only think that gives me pause (paws?) for thought is the thickness of the creature's legs - they do seem a little chunky even for a big dog. Of course, the creature does not 'change form' as it runs towards the camera. It's a very interesting film. Of course it could be a guy calling over his big dog, and getting it to jump up and mouth the camera.

It looks to me to be a Chow cross dog.

Chows have the dark tongue and the stilted gait.

Hi guys.
Alan F here.

I think that it's a dog in a suit, in that the movements are realistic, but the external shape seems a bit 'clunky'.
But then, who knows....
