WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

Back to Business

Thank you everyone for leaving me room to grieve over the past few weeks. I have been at Corinna's house in Lincolnshire, and have spent my time quietly, basically recuperating and reflecting on the events of the past few months. Since early June I have been living in my old family home, looking after my father, and - perforce - the CFZ has had to take a back seat for the past few months. However, all that is about to change.

Mark and I return to the office on Tuesday, and as of Wednesday the CFZ will be completely open for business once more. Oll Lewis is moving down on a full time basis in the next few weeks and will be taking up the role of Ecological Director of the CFZ. We will also be establishing a brand new charitable trust to administer the museum, and hope that building work will have commenced on the museum building by the early summer. Also due for construction is our new laboratory, and we hope that by the time of the Weird Weekend, visitors will have something worth looking at.

On the subject of the Weird Weekend, we have just added a new speaker - renowned Swiss cryptozoologist Andreas Trottmann. This is shaping up to be the biggest and best event yet, so I urge you all to buy tickets early to avoid disappointment...

By the way - we were going to make this announcement on Valentine's Day, but sadly that was the day that my father died. Corinna has proved herself to be a woman of unsound mind, and has agreed to marry me. She must be bonkers!

First, I would like to express my sympathies on the loss of your loved one.

Second, I am glad that I am the first to be able to post to you a hardy Congratulations! on your impending doom..*coughs*.. I mean marriage. *smiles*

Third, I would love to discuss some cryptozology theories and questions, I've found that finding a cryptozologist's contact information with whom I might pose my questions and theories is a rare cryptid in and of itself.

I hope that you will contact me via e-mail (I believe that my contact information is available through my profile) and I might have the honor of discussing some cryptozology questions and topics with someone who is actually in your field.

It is good to hear that you and your organization will once more be steaming along "on track". Again, my congratulations to you and your fiance.

Sincerely,

Bonnie
