WHAT DO YOU THINK?

This is the latest `bigfoot` video to be doing the rounds. The YouTube "blurb" reads:

"Footage of The Beast Of Gum Hill while ATV riding on 04/05/09 at approximately 6:30pm. This is the 2nd time I have seen this creature/bigfoot called The Beast Of Gum Hill. This is the first time we managed to capture it on video. This is the first known video footage of the BOGH, there was a still photo taken in the early 80's that I remember seeing . The camera used was a cheap digital VuPoint 5.0 With waterproof case that I use while fiming my ATV rides. Local legend has talked about this non-aggressive, reclusive beast for a little over 100 years. The BOGH is around 7ft tall and guesstimated at 350 lbs. I have used the name The Beast of Gum Hill on my ATV videos as a tribute to the local legend."

The video is rampaging around the Internet like wildfire, but so far I have not been able to find out anything about where "Gum Hill" is, or the provenance of either the video or the person who took it. We eagerly await your comments.

    Fake. Definitely, certainly fake.

We have a man riding a small, extremely noisy ATV. The thing he's riding is a petrol-engined horror with the absolute minimum of exhaust; such vehicles are noisier even than helicopters at close range and in deep woods would be audible for miles.

Cue bigfoot walking across river. This putative bigfoot must certainly have heard the ATV in the distance, and probably the men too and given that the only track looks to be a riverbed ATVs can't be too common round there.

So what does it do in response to a very noisy, brightly coloured and unusual thing moving up the river bed towards it?

    Absolutely nothing, that's what!

Even a human used to such sights would have stopped for a look (if only to see if the buffoon on the ATV fell off). Someone unused to such things would have certainly been gawping all the way towards it. A supposedly extremely shy hominid or ape wouldn't have been seen anywhere near such a vehicle, and if it did come on one by accident would certainly have startled and looked at it.

No, this is a fake. A man in a monkeysuit shot at long range (if the footage is even shot at the same place; it could have been superimposed in) with quite decent acting on the part of the ATV driver, but it is still a fake.

Who are the people who're touting the video, and are they trying to make money off it?

Fake, probably, howeer living Hywy 101 and the 5 corridor, there is pretty common sighting of BF along roads etc, so they may acclimate, there are a couple time in Ohio, another place I lived along railroad tracks. So, the question if a fake why? As for me I tend to be skeptical, is this an attempt at youtube fame, looking over groups and places on BF in america cant find Gum Hill creature at all, but did find arious reports from all around the counties of Bristol Tenn.

If you look up Gum Hill at http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/placenames.asp, you can also look at aerial and ground maps of these areas. The site is excellent for playing "the name game".

  4. The Bigfoot figure is little more than a shadow and has a semi-transparent look to it. At one point it seems to jump forawrd as if a frame is being skipped.

It's almost definitely been superimposed onto this footage.

  5. What a pile of cack! I know Bigfoot is elusive but why on earth does every piece of footage mimic (badly) the Patterson footage ? Even if there's a real hairy humanoid at Gum Hill, this kind of evidence ain't gonna do it much justice.
