On this day in 1928 the singer and musician Fats Domino was born. His parents obviously thought that calling their son a name like 'Fats' was the best possible start in life they could give him.

  • Domino's most prized possession was a small hand drill that he carried around with him everywhere. One day he misplaced it while going about his business and had to retrace his steps over the past several hours, eventually finding it on a hill where blueberries grew in great numbers. So delighted was he to be reunited with his drill, he wrote a song about it:
