CRYPTOLINK: Officers take 'bigfoot' prank in stride

A word about cryptolinks: we are not responsible for the content of cryptolinks, which are merely links to outside articles that we think are interesting (sometimes for the wrong reasons), usually posted up without any comment whatsoever from me. 

Bigfoot had eluded capture one again, it seems. Monday afternoon, a 911 call came into the Buena Vista County Communications Center reporting that a child had seen a sasquatch near a home in Alta. The call was dutifully put out over the radio, prompting a double-take by scanner owners everywhere.

The county sheriff department's policy is to investigate all emergency calls. While the young caller had disconnected, the dispatcher was able to trace the call by GPS to an address on Highway Street. When an officer responded, there was apparently no one home and no sign of abominable snowmen or anything else unusual, and attention quickly returned to less spectacular duties.

"We're still on the search. We have invested an exhaustive amount of manpower and overtime," joked Sheriff's Major Doug Simons Tuesday.
