On this
day in 1979 Dave Fleischer died. Fleicher ran Fleischer animation studios along
with his brother Max and together they many created classic characters including
Popeye and Betty Boop. After abandoning the animation studios he found work as a
special effects artist on films like The Birds.

of the most famous work of the Fleischer studio is the 1940s superman cartoons,
they're well worth a watch and out of copyright too:
