OLL LEWIS: Yesterday's News Today

Yesterday’s News Today

On this day in 1959 Raymond Chandler died. Chandler was the greatest author America has ever produced and if you haven't read one of his books you owe it to yourself to rectify this. Personally as a first read I recommend The High Window (don't just cheat and watch the Bogart movie version of The Big Sleep because the Hays Code insisted that the ending was changed from the book and that it be toned down, also Bogart is really poorly cast as Marlow).

And now the news:
  • New scorpion species found near city of Tucson in ...
  • DNA study clarifies how Polar bears and brown bear...
  • Irish connection to major rhino horn thefts and sm...
  • Brain Mapping Reveals Neurological Basis of Decisi...
  • 'Extinct' butterfly found in Cornwall – via Kithra...
  • Gecko rediscovered after 135 years – via Chad Arme...
  • Bat Virus Kills Boy: Will the Public Panic? – via ...

  • If you do want to see a film version of Marlow this is a good one (even though it was set in what was then the modern day it actually works really well) :
