I'M YER GONZO BLOG DOO-DAH MAN

Please forgive the fairly perfunctory nature of today's postings, but I have a doctor's appointment just after mid-day and I want to get as much done before I go as I can. Hopefully my hearing problems will soon be sorted..

I have to admit that I am feeling quite pleased with myself blogwise today. Yesterday we posted the 1000th story. I am amazed it has gone so quickly...

Chris Thompson really is a smashing artist. I have been an avid fan since early April when the Gonzo grande fromage came to visit, and plonked a copy of Chris' new live DVD/CD package into my sticky little hands and said, 'Listen to this dude' (or words to that effect). From the looks of reviews like this, I am not the only afficianado..

It is difficult to know what to say about Rick Wakeman; he plays piano like an angel, he has a ridiculously schoolboy sense of humour (as do I) and he likes cats. He has also just released an archive live album from 2003 which is jolly good.

Dan Wooding is a jolly interesting chap. He has written a number of interesting biographies inclusing one of Britain's first rock and roll rebel Terry Dene, and 'the caped crusader' Rick Wakeman. The Terry Dene book comes out imminently through Gonzo, and the Wakeman book is out now. Check it out.

As you must have noticed whilst reading these pages over the last few weeks (assuming that you have been reading these pages over the past few weeks) Michael Des Barres has a new album out. He has been doing a lot of major interviews, and I thinmk that this one is possibly the best yet..

I have always been a big Beatles fan, and I am also a very keen devotee of the work of Captain Beefheart, but it would never have occurred to me to compare them. However, someone has, and today I have done a link to a remarkably incisive article..

And that is about it for today. I am off to get my ears syringed. Hey Ho!
