WILDLIFE EXTRA: White sparrow..

January 2012. This photo was sent to us by Cheryl Sikich from Texas. Cheryl asked us if this bird was an albino or a leucistic bird. Usually, an albino bird will have no colouration at all, and the eyes will be pink. But to be honest, we are not sure in this case - Let us know your thoughts. Read on...

  1. When I lived in Didcot, Oxfordshire, in the early 1990s I saw a few white sparrows. There were several. One was like this one picured, completely white, and at least one other was a pale white-ish colour but also had the usual sparrow markings although fainter than normal.

    It's snowy white so it must be a..... bird of paradise! Arf arf arf! Oh dear,I must do better.
