OLL LEWIS: Yesterday's News Today

http://cryptozoologynews.blogspot.com/

On this day in 1854 Tobias P. Whippy III patented the spiral comb-over, as a means for disguising partial baldness, with the New York patents office. His invention would inspire his son, Tobias P. Whippy IV, to create the ‘99’ ice-cream which he named after the last 2 digits of the patent number. The 99 proved to be so popular Mr Whippy the fourth converted all but 2 of the vans in his father’s vast fleet of rapid response comb over provider service to vans that could dispense 99s to the eager citizens of New York and a ticker tape parade was held in his honour.
