It is an ostracod of some sort, I couldn't even begin to be more specific than that however.
Hi Jon,It's an ostracod crustacean - the shape of its shell and position of its limbs are characteristic. Many species are marine, but there are also a fair few freshwater species, particularly those of the order Podocopida.All the best,Karl
