PRUDENCE IS UNWELL

Although we have only had her a week, Prudence has become firmly attached to us, and we are incredibly fond of her.

However, there is a problem. There have started to be small amounts of blood in her urine, and although this is most likely to be a urinary tract infection, after what happened to Biggles we are very paranoid about doggy illnesses at the moment.

Keep her (and us) in your thoughts and prayers to whichever deity you believe in, and we shall keep you posted....

  3. Poor Prudence.

I hope she will be doing well soon.

I love boxer and bulldog-type dogs, and I always will.

Remember, Prudence, that your ancestors were the Alaunt dogs who followed the Alani out of the Caucasus as Goths began to raid the Roman Empire.

Your kin are the Alano dogs of Spain, which the conquistadors used to subdue the Americas and the Caribbean.

Your more immediate ancestors worked in Medieval butcher shops and slaughterhouses, where the custom was to have dogs fight a cow before it was killed. In those days, cattle roamed the countryside and their flesh was quite tough. A dog was needed to work the cattle over to tenderize them a bit.

Your even more immediate ancestors would participate in bull-baiting contests in both the German-speaking word and in Britain.

    You come from tough stock.

Just remember that and things will go well.
