Yesterday we trundled off to Bideford to get the dressing on my ankle
changed, and then I spent far too much money in Morrisons. Weirdly for a
supermarket, they were playing music that I actually liked including T Rex and
The Beach Boys, which combined with the disorientation that I always get in a
sodding great barn full of harsh lighting and hundreds of people all talking at
once, combined to produce a peculiar psychedelic effect. I am very tempted to go
into Morrisons and sit there for a couple of hours with a digital recorder and
see if I can get the basis for a record which would end up sounding like a cross
between Throbbing Gristle and Brian Eno. Maybe i could call it 'Music for
Consumers'.

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an
old hippy of 57 who - together with a Jack Russell called Archie, an infantile
orange cat named after a song by Frank Zappa, and two half grown kittens, one
totally coincidentally named after one of the Manson Family, purely because she
squeaks, puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown
cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with various fish. He is ably
assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly
mother-in-law, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we
mention Archie and the Cats?
