The Gonzo Daily - Wednesday
It never rains but it pours. Today I have been landed with a bunch of
unexpected admin expenses for the Weird Weekend. Another reason why this is
going to be the last one, at least in the current venue and format, because I
truly dpon't want to be strangled by beaurocracy. I always said that I would do
ten and this one will be the seventeenth, but I will still be disappointed if
this actually is the end. Ticket sales have actually picked up despite the
financial insecurity that so many people are feeling at the moment which is good
news. This year's Weird Weekend is just over a week away and will be featuring
our very own Steve Ignorant, sponsored by our very own Erik Norlander, compèred
by me and the return of Nuneaton's Mr Entertainment, Barry Tadcaster with his
pal Orang Pendek, and featuring a whole cornucopia of high strangeness and
cerebral silliness. It would still make me very happy, however, if I could sell
some more tickets..

We interview the lovely Liz Lenten from Auburn, Doug goes to see Adele,
John goes to Alaska to watch whales and goes to see the Crazy World of Arthur
Brown in the meantime. Alan goes to Kozfest, Jeremy goes to see Blue Oyster
Cult, Jon muses on unreleased Pink Floyd and reviews a book by Bill Drummond.

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an
old hippy of 56 who - together with an infantile orange cat named after a song
by Frank Zappa, and two small kittens, one totally coincidentally named after
one of the Manson Family, purely because she squeaks, puts it all together from
a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he
shares with various fish. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his
bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law, and a motley collection of
social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the infantile orange cat, and the
adventurous kittens?
