Several people commented on yesterday’s post about the ‘Alternate History
Hub’. The video to which I referred about what would of happened to the world if
the Russian Revolution hadn’t happened gave scenarios for both the February and
the October revolutions. Most of both of these hinged on a hypothetical timeline
where the Russians had never entered the First World War, which is admittedly a
highly unlikely scenario. However, I am now doing something that I should have
done yesterday, and posting a link to the film so you can see it for yourself:

Last night I was supposed to go to bed early, something which I singularly
failed to do. When I finally did, I sat up in bed watching Julien Temple’s
documentary about Wilko Johnson and the year that he thought he was dieing. I
have seldom seen such an emotive film. Wilko’s good humour and quiet dignity is
jaw dropping. it is on BBC iplayer now, and I strongly suggest that you go and
watch it at the earliest possible opportunity.

* Jon Downes, the Editor of all these ventures (and several others) is an
old hippy of 56 who - together with an infantile orange cat named after a song
by Frank Zappa, and a small kitten totally coincidentally named after one of the
Manson Family, purely because she squeaks, puts it all together from a converted
potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon which he shares with
various fish, and sometimes a young lady called Jessica. He is ably assisted by
his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law,
and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the
infantile orange cat, and the adventurous kitten?
