On this day in 1992 the author Isaac Asimov died. Asimov wrote many classic sci-fi novels and short stories including I, Robot and the foundation series. His potential legacy in creating the three laws of robotics might well turn out to be his greatest achievement if ever science creates computers or robots capable of genuine independent thought and reasoning on a similar level to that of a human.

Asimov states the three laws of robotics, which is really an imperfect system when you think of it as it leaves a big loop hole where by a person could order a robot to commit a vast array of crimes against a person (e.g. “Robot, steal that man's wallet for me.”) and the robot would blindly obey. A better system is my 1 law of robotics which is simply 'Robot, don't be a tw*t':
