Yesterday was a particularly strange one. I have been trying to shake a cold for weeks now and each time I think that I have got rid of it, the bloody thing comes sneaking in under the radar. So, yesterday afternoon I spent mildly delirious in bed. I got up at about 7:30 feeling very much the worse for wear and within minutes was talking to Joey Molland, one-time guitarist and keyboard player with Badfinger. Considering I had just finished reading Graeme Thomson's biography of George Harrison I was sooooo tempted to talk about nothing else but the part Joey had played in 'All things must Pass' and 'The Concert for Bangladesh', but I managed to remain reasonably cohesive and professional even though my memory failed me at one point and I made a dreadful Beatles minutiae boo-boo for which I apologise. *  Jon Downes, the editor of all these ventures (and several others), is an old hippy of 54 who - together with his orange cat (who is currently on sick leave in Staffordshire) and two very small kittens (one of whom is also orange) - puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon, which he shares with various fish and sometimes a small Indian frog. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, his elderly mother-in-law and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus...did we mention the orange cat?
