Funnily enough if you take the falling bombs out of the equation, I see a similar sight regularly! I am often fell walking in the wilds of Northumberland. Huge tracts of land are used for joint military exercises between the army and air force. Strangely this same land also attracts scores of wild birds who run the risk of getting blown to smithereens just to nest there. You can be merrily walking along in the valley next to the ranges, when a flock of ducks fly overhead closely followed by a couple of jet fighters, Chinook and/or Apache helicopters!
