And so the week continues. I did several
rather interesting interviews yesterday afternoon, with a number more to do this
week. I have also got hold of a copy of Pete Townshend's autobiography which is
completely gripping. Today I shall be continuing work on Nick Redfern's book on
British BHM phenomena, which is another one of the books that we will hopefully
have out for Christmas...
I was aware of Barbara Dickson. Of course I was.
No-one who has even the slightest involvement in pop music over the past four
decades could fail to be. But until yesterday, I had never really listened to
her. And it was a real eye opener. The lovely Anne-Marie from Gonzo asked me to
write sales notes for her forthcoming album, and because I don't like relying on
Wikipedia, and I knew next to nothing about her, I decided to set up an
interview. And I also typed her name into my ever faithful Spotify, and listened
to her for the first time. She has an amazing voice, but one which even when she
is singing the glossiest showbiz ballad still has the resonance of the open
moorlands and cold ocean winds of her native Scotland. And to talk to? She is an absolute delight. Eloquent, intelligent and
insightful, she is an interviewer's dream. So herewith the first of a three part
interview. I hope that it will be the first of many..

Our daily visit to the home of Thom the World Poet,

I have been having problems with skype over the
last few days, which means that several interviews that I have supposed to have
been doing didn't get done. However, I finally caught up with the mightily
talented Paul May of the Atkins/May project (together with original Judas Priest
singer Al Atkins)...

I always thought that Judy Dyble had a lovely
voice, and so I have been overjoyed this past few years to see signs that she is
stirring and coming back into the public eye. Check out this from Norwegian TV
back in 2010...

There are many advantages to living out in the
sticks in a part of North Devon that no-one ever goes to. However, it does mean
that I am too far away from shows like this one featuring Rick Wakeman and
classic prog artist Roger Dean

Gonzo Multimedia has an excellent Stephen Stills
DVD in the Lost Broadcasts series which eminently gives me a perfect excuse to
post this link to the man himself talking revealingly about the abortive Buffalo
Springfield reunion...

The Gonzo Daily is a two way process. If you have any news or want to write for us, please contact me at jon@eclipse.co.uk. If you are an artist and want to showcase your work, or even just say hello please write to me at gonzo@cfz.org.uk. Please copy, paste and spread the word about this magazine as widely as possible. We need people to read us in order to grow, and as soon as it is viable we shall be invading more traditional magaziney areas. Join in the fun, spread the word, and maybe if we all chant loud enough we CAN stop it raining. See you tomorrow...
The Gonzo Daily is - as the name implies - a daily online magazine (mostly) about artists connected to the Gonzo Multimedia group of companies. But it also has other stuff as and when the editor feels like it. The Editor is an old hippy of 53 who - together with his orange cat - puts it all together from a converted potato shed in a tumbledown cottage deep in rural Devon. He is ably assisted by his lovely wife Corinna, his bulldog/boxer Prudence, and a motley collection of social malcontents. Plus.. did we mention the orange cat?
