NEWS: Beached whale found 800 metres ashore in Yorkshire
Thanks to our old friend Simon Reames for sending this. It has to be the strangest headline of the year: a 33ft Sei Whale has been found stranded in a field.
The headline is grossly inaccurate, though. As the story says, the whale is thought to have perished some 800m offshore (not ashore!), then washed up on this tidal marsh (not a field). It was a mildly out-of-place animal, in that Sei whales are rarely found in the North Sea and prefer deep waters, but otherwise there's nowt fortean about it.
Was hoping the story would have a happier ending :(
