Seaham now has the unfortunate title of the highest number of suicides in Britain. In a bizarre twist of fate, as one lady walked into the sea to her death in my home town, on the other side of the world in Australia in another town called Seaham, a young man tragically died when he accidently clashed heads with his friend on a rope swing and fell into the river and drowned.
You would think that the name Seaham would crop up time and time again living as we do on a world full of water. But no; it happens only twice and the one in Australia is nowhere near the sea.
Strange.
