The Hoan Kiem Turtle is NOT a cryptid. It is, and always has been, a KNOWN species.People promoting the Vietnamese turtle AS a cryptid have simply never bothered to look that part up.
This is probably the only time that I have ever seen a photograph of an out-of-place species (red-eared slider) sitting on the back of a cryptid (the Hoan Kiem turtle). Weird, huh?
