Today (not for the firsi time) I want to hijack the blog for my own ends. I want to wish a very happy birthday to my darling wife Corinna (pictured here a couple of years back at another birthday party, together with my two darling step-daughters).
Thank you for marrying me my dear, and many happy returns..

CFZ ARCHIVING PROJECT: Forteana Part 16
As you know, Oll has been working on the archiving project since early February 2009 and he is now working on a general mish-mash of a section known as `General Forteana`. This fifteench collection once again really is a general mishmash of completely uncategoriseable stuff, including the a woman who thinks that she is a duck, a girl disembowelled by a paddling pool, and an ingenious phalarope. It doesn't get much better than this. Good stuff.

REDFERN'S CICADA RESCUE
Jonny
Thought u might like this (feel free to post).
It's a beasty I found in a pool of water in our garden the other day, on his back half dead. I picked it up and placed it on a piece of paper, and after about 40 minutes of drying off he was on his way.
I placed a 50p next to it for scale.
Cheers

CFZ AUSTRALIA WRITES...
http://www.news.com.au/features/environment/bizarre-sabre-toothed-cat-fossil-discovered-in-riversleigh/story-e6frflp0-1225889603135
AUSTRALIAN scientists have unearthed the remains of a small bizarre, prehistoric, sabre-toothed cat in an ancient former rainforest, where specimens stretch back 25 million years.
Lead paleontologist Henk Godthelp said it was the first time the carnivore - with fangs half the length of its skull, which fits into the palm of an adult human hand - had been seen in Australia, calling it an exciting and unique discovery."It's sort of like a native cat with a broad flattish head with large canines," Dr Godthelp said. "It's an animal we don't think we've seen before up at Riversleigh, so it was quite a nice find for us."--
