GERALD SMITH: Name this grasshopper..

GERALD SMITH WROTE: I've never even seen a grasshopper this size (3.5-4cm) , let alone snapped one in the wild.. Emma, one of Simon's tribe, spotted it at Powler's piece a couple of weeks ago. I asked how she found it and she said, "I heard it," She has very acute hearing.

I'me interested to see that it's head seems to be encased in a transparent 'helmet'. Is it in process of emerging from a chrysalis or something. I know zilch about grasshoppers.
