Our local pet stores used to sell Amphiumas as "Lungfish". They seem to be a fairly hardy aquarium species and some of the ones kept locally grew to enormous sizes.
Incidentally, there seems to be an uncatalogued species of Amphiuma that lives in Mexico. It is shown on precolumbian artwork.
nice looking amphiuma Jon - wish we could get suchh exotics in this country, the choices here are sooooo limited - it is only in the last 5 years or so they have been seeling lizards, at a hell of a price.
