After the pictures of spiders capturing surprisingly large prey items, I found this picture of a mantis eating a humming bird. I have seen another photo of a very big mantis eating a small gecko. (There is of course the famous account of a mantis eating a gecko in Durrell's My Family and Other Animals, which if you haven't read, you really should).

After the pictures of spiders capturing surprisingly large prey items, I found this picture of a mantis eating a humming bird. I have seen another photo of a very big mantis eating a small gecko.
